Here’s an “I love my job.” story that I need to share:
Today I was working the Pixie Hollow location in Disneyland and when I go to the greeter position there is a set of petals set up just like the one below. I didn’t think anything of it but I tried to keep it in the Mickey shape as much as possible until it was impossible between guests and the weather. A custodial cast member came and swept them away. Later, toward the end of my shift, I saw the same custodial cast member come walking up to Pixie Hollow, followed by a family with two little girls in princess gowns. The cast member empties his little pail (that is normally used to collect trash in) to reveal these same little flower petals. He then told the girls to help him arrange them in the shape of Mickey Mouse. The girls helped him immediately and when they were finished he asked them if anything was missing. The girls said they couldnt think of anything and he said, “How about a little pixie dust?” He pulled out a bag, that he explained was from TinkerBell herself, and that she wanted them to make the flowers magical. Each girl reached in the bag and proceeded to spread pixie dust all over the flowers. The girls were thrilled and the parents were thanking him left and right. Now… I was a little teary eyed at this point.

After the first two girls had left, another girl approached him and asked if she could have some pixie dust too. The cast member then told the girl to close her eyes, he reaches back in the bag for more dust, I didnt hear what he said but at the same time he sprinkled more dust on her, I heard him say “Remember, all it takes is…” and the little girl finished his sentence with “Faith, Trust, and a little Pixie Dust.

I know a lot of us cast members complain about our jobs and about how frustrating guests can be, but this event reminded me how little things, like flower petals, or water, or even a simple hello can make the magic that we make every day become more and more apparent to guests. Our job is to play and make magic. Who else in the world can say that BUT Disney Cast Members? We have the opportunity to come to work every single day and help someone out in the smallest or biggest way, whether they know it or not. We really do make dreams come true, and I cannot begin to express how powerful that is. We make peoples day more magical and memorable when they are coming from all walks of life and I think that RIGHT THERE is worth coming to work everyday. As cast members,we can make the magic happen. We are that magic. THAT is worth everything we have to do every day to make their day better.

I am so proud to say that I make magic for a living. With Faith, Trust, and a little Pixie Dust :)

And this is why I wanna work there.
